Unit 3 - Transparency in Online Education
Conclusion
Considering that transparency in online education is the ability to share with others what we do and get their feedback, there should not be restrictions on transparency, since observing the process through which to build the end product of learning allows us to see how others do. And that is a guarantee of success.
However, transparency online can also be to share data and information about students's name, birthday, social security number, addresses, telephone numbers, grades, course enrollments, previous education, exams, payments, number of forum contributions, etc.
After discussion organized by activity 4 of Unit 3, it seems to me that there is some concern regarding the disclosure of personal data. I think that you all agreed that this kind of tansparency should only happen if the students allow.
About pros and cons of global student catalogues, there should be more pros than cons. Sharing information about all students, will bring greater visibility and credibility of online education institutions, however, that has to be something that should always respect the wishes of each student to make public their data.
